Midnight on Icy beach

Focus on Nature workshop in iceland took us this beach near a glacier at night. The assignment was to shoot these crystals of ice rocks in night with long exposures. Then close to midnight Ragnar and John Paul Caponigro started showing us magic of lighting them with light painting. We were there in rain and cold and nobody wanted to go home.

Life on Rocks

During our visit we went to strange lands. From the surface of a million year old glacier we went to desert, a river bed and rocky base of a volcano.
It was a perfect location for The Blade Runner III or A Man from Mars.
Beautiful hard lava rocks every where.

Then there was this satelite dish adding to the intrigue

We spent rainy cold night picturing those rocks

Now you would say why shoot a rock? for crying out loud.
Well so we can practice 'painting with light strobe' effect.
And see the result.

The splendor of Icelandic Horses

We went to visit a Horse farm in Iceland
The Icelandic horse is a breed of horse developed in Iceland. Although small and often pony-sized, they are considered horses by most Icelandic breed registries. The breed develops late, but is long-lived and hardy. The Icelandic displays five gaits, rather than the typical three displayed by most other breeds. Horses living in their native Iceland have few diseases, and laws prevent animals from being imported to Iceland or returning to the country after they are exported. The breed is popular outside of Iceland, with sizable populations in Europe and North America. They are still used for traditional farm work in Iceland, as well as for leisure, showing and racing.
There gait is amazing, as if they are still trying to avoid lava burns.
Here are some magnificent examples.

Best of the week

This is our last night in Iceland and the group is celebrating with wine and laughter. We are all showing off our best images for the week as we say goodbye to our new friends. Here are my best 25 images from about 3000 images that I shot. And the best of the best goes to.... see the Icelandic horse galloping at the bottom.

I see dead people

During this trip to Iceland, while the group was busy shooting beautiful sceneries, many a times I used to look down and see the stones and gravel in the ground.
Then I thought, "I see dead people" (sixth sense) for uninitiated.
See these images and comment if you do too.
